Welcome to Restaurant Barghuus Riggisalp, a charming culinary retreat nestled at an elevation in the scenic backdrop of Schwarzsee-Bad, Switzerland. Located at Gypsera 231, this self-service restaurant stands out not merely for its delicious fare but also for its breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Whether you arrive via the cable lift or complete your hike down, the journey brings you to a place where nature meets delightful dining.
The ambiance of Barghuus Riggisalp is both relaxed and welcoming. Guests can expect a pragmatic approach to mountain dining, with bustling activity visible even in the off-season, reflecting its popularity among locals and tourists alike. This is particularly appealing after a long day on the slopes or hiking trails.
One of the clear highlights of this establishment is its hearty Swiss fondue, highly praised by visitors like Lo. Set against a glorious mountain vista, the rich, melted cheese becomes more than just a meal; it’s a memorable experience that invites you to linger and savor. On colder days, the soup of the day serves as a warming comfort, expertly prepared and presented, as highlighted by Maximilian Spiess-Henning.
While dining at Barghuus Riggisalp, it's essential to embrace the uniqueness of its setting. The costs may reflect its mountain-top location, yet the quality of food and the service provided warrant the prices. From well-cooked fries that accompany your meal to the simple yet necessary amenities such as toilet facilities, you’ll find everything designed to enhance your visit.
If you’re considering a stop here, take the time to relish the unparalleled ambiance and enjoy the delightful culinary offerings while soaking in arresting views of the local mountains. As Dr Pascal Meier keenly points out, the vistas alone are worth the trip. Restaurant Barghuus Riggisalp is more than a place to eat; it’s a peak experience waiting to be savored. Don’t forget to capture your moments in this alpine haven!

You can sit, and there's toilet paper. What else do you want while on a mountain ? Not really a public toilet but I assume the Hut owner doesn't mind...

It's a typical self-service restaurant in a skiing mountain area. It's off-season but still lots of people. Ordering and paying was efficient and the ordered food is brought to our table. Pretty fast and for canteen food, it was well cooked and nice. Personnel are kind and helpful.

Very nice fondue. Great view. Fun trip with cable lift and food included in ticket price. Enjoyed the walk down but was a bit scared about many cows on the way.

The soup of the day was delicious, and the fries were well cooked. You have to consider that prices will be quite high, since it's on top of a mountain
